We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at Park United Reform Church (on the Number 17 bus route) at 2.30pm, finishing at 4.00pm. Our teacher is a member of the British Wheel of Yoga Teachers.

Originating in India 5,000 years ago, Yoga offers a holistic approach to body, mind and spirit. Yoga practice increases muscle strength, flexibility and balance and also encourages relaxation and concentration, helping overall well-being and health.

Yoga has something to offer everybody, whatever their age or ability. Our U3A class includes men and women, people who have practiced for years, those who are trying it for the first time and those who prefer to use a chair for some of the postures. Everybody is welcome!

The class varies from week to week, beginning with a gentle warm-up, progressing to some of the more traditional yoga poses, with modifications and variations as needed, and finishes with relaxation. Some weeks we work with yoga breathing practices and meditation as well.

Students will need to bring a yoga "sticky" mat, available quite cheaply at most of the larger supermarkets, and to wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Layers are ideal for keeping at a comfortable temperature throughout the class.
